Highly Sensitive Design
Provided brand and category consulting to a design startup in New York City that now specifically works to solve problems in Interior, Product, and Apparel Design for the autistic and highly sensitive (HSP) audience.
The Insight: The autistic and highly sensitive audience (along with family/caretakers) often feel 'other' and alone - for not just how they are treated, but also for how so many designs and solutions pose additional problems to them given how they experience intense reactions to sensory inputs (lights, sounds, smells, textures). They (and their caretakers) constantly find themselves needing to create DIY solutions to accommodate these sensitivities.
The Strategy: Develop an audience-focused brand that's dedicated to addressing, and predicting these pain points in Interior/Environment, Furniture, and Apparel design. In the process of making these designs, make the solutions appealing and beneficial for an even wider audience (people who appreciate refinement and sensitivity overall in design) - making the autistic and HSP audience less alone, and more so the bud for innovation and early adoption!
